St. William’s Questions for Confession
- Have I engaged in excessive thoughts, actions or desires of a sexual nature? (lust)
- Have I over-indulged in the consumption of food and other material things? (gluttony)
- Have I excessively desired wealth? Have I not been content with that which God has provided? (greed)
- Have I fallen into despair or been insufficiently active in what God has called me to do? Have I not taken the Sabbath rest God has provided to me? (sloth)
- Have I been excessively angry at God, others, or myself? (anger)
- Have I desired or envied the wealth of others? (envy)
- Have I been overly proud of my own looks, abilities, and importance? Have I not given God, others, or myself the respect they are due? (pride)
- Have I insufficiently trusted in God and given in to fear? (fear)
- Have I not been truthful to God, others, or myself? (deceit)
- Are there other shortcomings that come to mind?
